Welcome In the Past 12 months APTS has:
Ø had input into the review of ACT User Choice Arrangements being currently conducted for the ACT Department of Education and Training Ø actively participated in Tertiary Taskforce meetings held in response to the discussion paper "Creating a Connected ACT Tertiary Education Environment" Ø lobbied Training and Tertiary Education (TaTE) in the ACT Department of Education and Training on the following matters: · The APTS committee has been very successful in lobbying Tate to change their User Choice policy which would see a disastrous reduction in fees for traineeships and apprenticeships. Their turn around happened in 2 days as a result of APTS protests and our ability to inform many other stakeholders of the seriousness of the issues. · The APTS committee is also lobbying TaTE to make changes to the new funding round of Productivity Placements Program (PPP) and have had many productive discussions resulting in changes to benefit RTOs, employers and participants in the program. These changes reflected the issues arising in the APTS meetings · APTS has an ongoing high level consultation process with Tate on a regular basis and is involved in focus groups and input into policies which impact on RTOs · APTS can and does represent issues brought up by our members to TaTE officials Ø affiliated with the ACT & Region Chamber of Commerce and Industry · APTS has affiliated with the ACT Chamber of Commerce who provide our secretariat services and our meeting venues. Chris Peters, the Chamber’s CEO, and Trevar Chilver, the Chamber’s Director of Employment, Education and Training, are on the APTS Committee, and they represent the interests of the training industry on many boards, councils and representative groups, including: o ACT Accreditation and Registration Council (ARC) o Board of Senior Secondary Studies (BSSS) o BSSS Vocational Education and Training Committee o Vocational Education and Training Advisory Group (VETAG) o Capital Region School to Industry Association o Career and Transition Advisory Committee o Construction Industry Training Council o Department of Defence Joint Training Taskforce o Inter-Agency Transition Committee o Employment Education and Training Ministerial Roundtable Ø represented members on the following groups: · ACT Accreditation and Registration Council · Flexible Learning Committee · Let’s Talk VET conference · Several Training Skills Forums · ACT Accreditation Breakfast Series Ø marketed Training Opportunities with the Chamber of Commerce · In 2010 we are organising an opportunity for employer members of the ACT Chamber of Commerce to meet the training Industry. Ø prepared to present a seminar on AQTF · Our members will be represented at the TVET Work shop on Quality requirements for the new audit on RTOs for the AQTF. APTS will be sponsoring a workshop to disseminate this information to all members |
